Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease of the soft and hard tissue supporting our teeth (the gums and bone around our teeth). It is extremely prevalent as the CDC reports periodontitis can be found in 47% of the US adult population over 30 and 70% over 65.

The early form of periodontal disease presents as gingival inflammation without the breakdown of these supporting tissues and is called gingivitis. If left untreated, gingivitis may advance to periodontitis, and the loss of the supporting structures of teeth, and eventual tooth loss.

Treating periodontal disease isn't just an essential part of oral health, but an essential part of overall health. Studies have shown that periodontal disease may significantly affect systemic health via the direct transmission of oral bacteria and inflammatory mediators into the circulatory system and entire body - increasing the risk and complications of other systemic diseases.

Our highly trained dental hygienists excel at identifying periodontal diseases and treating them with a full range of dental cleaning services comfortably and effectively.
