Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease is an inflammatory condition that affects the soft and hard tissues supporting our teeth, specifically the gums and the bone surrounding them. It is highly prevalent; according to the CDC, periodontitis affects 47% of adults in the US over the age of 30 and 70% of those over 65.

The early stage of periodontal disease is characterized by gingival inflammation without the breakdown of the supporting tissues, and this condition is known as gingivitis. If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, leading to the loss of the supporting structures of the teeth and ultimately resulting in tooth loss.

Treating periodontal disease is essential not only for maintaining oral health but also for overall well-being. Research has shown that periodontal disease can have a significant impact on systemic health. It allows oral bacteria and inflammatory substances to enter the bloodstream, which may increase the risk and complications associated with other systemic diseases.

Our highly trained dental hygienists specialize in identifying periodontal diseases and offering a comprehensive range of dental cleaning services to treat them comfortably and effectively.
